'Value' is the Apt Word... September 8, 2010 WKerry.co.uk The 'EasyCAP' seems to be able to do everything it says on the (metaphorical) tin. I had to download `homemade' drivers from an obscure website for it to work with Windows 7 and that certainly took a while. The software supplied was fairly awful and made my laptop start up about 2 minutes slower than normal and would force it to go into 'Windows Basic' for about 30 seconds every time I started up. But, there is no obligation to use the software. The `VideoView' program that came with the Windows 7 drivers seems far more agreeable. The settings are, undoubtedly, quite complicated and it doesn't support PAL-60 which is, as I understand it, quite common among games consoles. The capture quality didn't seem particularly impressive and I had trouble getting the audio to work (eventually I plugged the sound cables into my PC's line-in socket - an adaptor will generally be required to do so however).
Vitally, of course, it cost less than £8 - making it probably the cheapest product of its sort available. Value is the greatest strength of the `EasyCAP'- incidentally, a terrible name.
Hmm... September 3, 2010 Joe Brown THIS IS NOT THE REAL EzCAP MADE BY FORWARD VIDEO! It is merely a Chinese knock-off. It worked well for a day and then just broke, no reason, just stopped working for any input/output I tried. SO, spend the extra fifteen quid on the EzCap, and then you'll have a product that works.
Cost effective video capture September 3, 2010 Paul G. Brewer (Rutland UK) I have now bought two of these capture devices, they work as advertised and are simple to set up and use. Look at the price!
its not easy capture at all ! September 1, 2010 TonyO s/w didn't want to load, after three days it still wont work, theres no help from the manufacturer.
Seems like you have a less than 50% chance of getting it working, not good.
Not for Vista August 27, 2010 jeddai If you have Windows Vista, please read this carefully. I have had many issues installing this product on Vista. Took me 4-5 hours to find the right driver. Driver suppled with the product is not suitable for Vista and Windows 7. You will need to find the correct driver and unfortunetly not available at the product's website.
I wish it would have worked out of box straight away.
Video captuer is alright.
