Christmas 2009 August 15, 2010 Ms. Dawn A. Smith (UK) Fantastic, Got it for my Mother-in-Law for my partner, love it, works well, and good value.
Great value and well thought out, integrates well with Viera TVs August 1, 2010 D. J. Burton (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a fantastic Blu-ray player from Panasonic - I bought this primarily because I have a Viera Panasonic television and I can therefore integrate it with my TV through the Viera link. One less remote control is a great plus point and I've always been impressed with the quality of Panasonic multimedia products.
It's easy to set up - just plug it in, connect with an HDMI cable, and you're away. There's an option to connect it to an Ethernet connection too but I haven't tried this out as yet. A nice surprise was that I could control my amplifier volume with the remote control by coding in the relevant "key" - so finally I can control everything when watching a DVD with the single remote.
The quality of picture is excellent and it upscales old DVDs without issue. Very impressive. I'm using it with a 32" 1080i Television and sitting around 6ft away you couldn't tell the difference between 1080p and 1080i. Sound is also good, and the remote is easy to use too. There are a few "power user" menus but most people won't have to worry about any of it.
The only negatives are the start up time, although you can put it on a "quick start" mode - but this consumes power which kind of defeats the object. The delayed start up also gets in the way of swapping discs. If I forget to hit the disk eject button first I have to wait a while for it to start up before I can eject the disc - if the first thing I hit is the eject button then all is fine. A minor irritation really.
Also I haven't managed to find the right button to go straight to the main menu on an old normal resolution DVD. I tried this on an old DVD to make sure it's not just Blu-ray and it still happened - maybe it is there somewhere but it's not obvious. The "top menu" button just returns an invalid operation message.
I can easily put up with these tiny issues, and my overall score is 4 stars.
Excellent purchase and price June 21, 2010 Ml Banbury 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The blu ray player was easy to set up and is extremely multipurpose. As well as playing blu ray discs it's great at up-scale dvds as well as playing other disc formats.
Only thing is i find it's a little slow at turning on and off and waiting for the disc to load, but don't think this is any worse then any other blu ray player.

Great value for what appears to be a brand new product. Only use it for my grandson's stuff so far but all in all a most satisfactory purchase.
